Gianna
Gianna was born and raised in Los Angeles in a Lebanese immigrant family, where she developed a love for learning and a desire to help others in everything that she does. Now a third-year Honors student at UCLA, she is pursuing a B.S. in Neuroscience, B.A. in Disability Studies, and minors in Global Health and Anthropology.
Her passion centers on improving and expanding access to healthcare for the disabled community. She conducts research in stroke neurorehabilitation (Cramer Lab), autism intervention (Kasari Lab), and as a Keck Fellow studying healthcare for children with disabilities in Lebanon. She also co-founded the Special Patient Care Initiative at UCLA, a student organization dedicated to improving healthcare for individuals with disabilities. Gianna is actively involved in service and leadership, including as a coach and board member for Bruin Special Olympics—where her passion for disability advocacy began—as well as through the Lebanese Student Association, InterAxon, and UCLA Health’s Care Extenders volunteer program. She is a UC-LEND (University of California Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities) fellow for 2025–26, a Resident Assistant, and a global health equity intern with Project HOPE. Each summer, she volunteers at camps for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in both California and Lebanon.
She aspires to pursue an MD-PhD in Medical Anthropology and become a pediatric neurologist, specializing in neurodevelopmental disabilities. In 2025, Gianna joined Level Up as a Direct Support Professional and is excited to continue bringing her experience and empathy to support participants. Outside of academics and work, she enjoys playing basketball, reading, traveling with friends, and learning new languages.
