Kailyn

Kailyn grew up in Torrance, California. She comes from a family that loves playing volleyball, so one of her favorite ways to stay active is to play with her family and friends. She loves Broadway musicals and has seen many local, regional, and national touring shows in LA, but is always down to go to New York for both the food and the shows. In her free time, she also enjoys acrylic painting, going to concerts, and taking trips to Santa Barbara to visit her sister.

Kailyn will graduate from UCLA with a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Immunology, & Molecular Genetics and a minor in Disability Studies. She chose her major after working as a caregiver for an older lady living with multiple sclerosis, and yet exhibited such strong character and persistent joy despite losing her independence over time. Kailyn has also attended Lighthouse Community Church for most of her life, and through her church’s disability ministry has cultivated a passion for caring for individuals with disabilities as well as those that become lifelong caregivers. At church, she provides one-on-one care for girls that have autism, Down syndrome, and ADHD. She also volunteers with Gerofit, where she helps lead workouts for veterans through a program at the West LA VA. She’s hoping to pursue optometry after she graduates, since vision is one of many ways that patients can interact with the things they love.

Kailyn joined the Level Up team in 2025 as a Direct Support Professional. She’s excited to build relationships with both the rest of the team and those she’ll be working with in the coming year. As someone that enjoys the slow process of learning about someone through conversation, time together, and shared goals, she’s eager to play a small role in helping build independence and carry out the organization’s mission.
