Sophie
Sophie was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, and spent her early childhood in Basel, Switzerland before moving to the Los Angeles area during elementary school. Her passion for advocacy and helping others began in middle school, when she served as a student aide in a special education life skills class. She continued this work throughout high school by participating in her school’s LEAP Club, Unified Sports, and serving as a Recreation Aide in her local parks district’s Therapeutic Recreation programs.
Now in her third year at UCLA, Sophie is majoring in Linguistics and Psychology with a minor in German. She hopes to combine her love of language and her desire to help others by becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist after completing her undergraduate studies.
Sophie currently serves as the President of Autism Advocacy at UCLA, where she leads various initiatives focused on inclusion and support for neurodivergent students. She is also an active board member of both the UCLA Running Club and German Club, allowing her to continue pursuing her interests in fitness and foreign languages. Additionally, she volunteers as a Research Assistant in the Language Processing Lab in UCLA’s Linguistics Department.
Sophie joined Level Up as a Direct Support Professional in 2025. She looks forward to supporting participant growth—and growing alongside them—as she continues doing the work she loves.
